TERRY VOSBEIN was born into a musical family in the musical city of New Orleans. He spent his first decades immersed in the world of jazz composition and performance, playing and writing and learning.
Somewhere along the way he got a few degrees, wrote some symphonies and found himself in Lexington, Virginia, teaching at Washington and Lee University.
In recent years he has turned back to his jazz roots.
His suite for jazz nonet, Come And Get It, has received performances in the US, France and Canada.
In 2008 he spent seven months living in Paris and Copenhagen creating music for twenty-piece big band. Some of these new compositions can be found on the CD Progressive Jazz 2009, featuring the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra (Max Frank Music).
The critically acclaimed performance of Vosbein’s Progressive Jazz arrangements of the music from Sweeney Todd are now available on compact disc, once again featuring the fabulous Knoxville Jazz Orchestra.
In late 2012 he released Stradivarius Christmas, a collection of favorite holiday songs skillfully arranged by Vosbein for violin and piano.

Terry is currently spending twelve months traveling the country by car and composing as he goes. Destinations include Santa Fe (NM), Eugene (OR), Vancouver (BC), Charleston (SC) and more. Stay tuned for updates.
September found him in Santa Fe. In October his home was Eugene, where he conducted the U of O jazz bands in a concert of his music. And Vancouver was his November residence, where students at UBC performed his composition A PRAYER FOR PEACE.
After driving from Vancouver to Virginia in December Terry spent the holidays in Charlottesville, before heading off to Atlanta, then Gatlinburg and then Williamsburg.
February was a great experience, in no small part due to Chamber Music Charleston's gracious southern hospitality. March had him in another Lexington, the Kentucky one. April's home was Johnstown, Pennsylvania, location of a major flood in 1889 that wiped out part of his family. And May has him living and composing in Rochester, New York.
And he has composed more notes than you could shake a stick at.
